Tips You Should Know About Hair Removal

May 07, 2008 By: PF Category: Hair Removal No Comments →

One of the most important factors to consider if you are thinking about doing your own hair removal, is that while all of these methods are quite effective, they are not nearly as effective as if you have the hair removal procedure done by a professional. All of the do-it-yourself methods mean you will have to do it much more frequently. If this is not an issue to you, home hair removal may be what you are looking for, as it works, it is neither difficult nor painful, and not too pricey.

For both men and women, there are a few shaving tips to keep in mind. One point is that moisture is helpful in this process, for both the skin and the hair. If it is your preference to shave while in the shower, this is quite beneficial. Lots of people prefer to use shaving creams or gels; two important tips are that using very little will produce the best results, and it is not necessary to splurge on expensive brands. The oldfashioned method of using soap is not pleasant option, as it tends to dry out the hair and the skin.

One method of male hair removal which many men would consider to be a suitable alternative to shaving is electrolysis. The two main benefits of electrolysis are that it can be easily done on large areas and the results are long lasting. When you compare these factors to shaving, electrolysis is certainly preferable. You don’t have to deal with the annoyance of shaving; and, even more important, hair removal will no longer have to be a regular daily routine as it usually is when you remove it with a razor. When you have electrolysis done by a professional, you are sure to be satisfied with the long-lasting results.

The basic points to consider when choosing which laser hair removal system to purchase include your skill level, the speed of treatment, and the amount of power that you will need. These factors include whether the equipment is for your own use for either small or large areas; or, if you intend the equipment for professional use, the quantity of clients you will be dealing with. Whichever description fits your plans for this system, you can find the specific products that are suitable for you, as well as all of the information you will need to learn about how to do this simple procedure.

From skin care to hair removal, we are bombarded with information on our beauty. Do we really care that much? Well, yes! Our looks can make a big difference in how we fill. Don’t tell me if you have acne you like going out where everyone can see you? It can make you fill like crap. Lowers your self esteem. Besides skin care there also is unwanted hair. Mother nature tends to give us stuff we don’t want, need nor desire. Fortunately getting rid of unwanted hair is easier to deal with than acne or skin problems. Let’s explore this topic a bit here.

Over the years we women have desired less and less hair on their bodies. The smooth silky finish we crave isn’t achieved with a razor. One method that is becoming increasingly popular is hot wax hair removal. This is becoming the method of choice for women everywhere that want a silky smooth finish that doesn’t disappear the next day.

With a plethora of hair removal products on the market some people may still be wondering why hot wax hair removal has lasted so well. It is not a perfect system however, but overall the benefits outweigh the failings. It’s not just the finish it gives but wax removal is also less expensive than many of the more modern approaches. We all know that shaving is a real drag, I can’t count how many times I have cut myself and of course, the bleeding never seems to stop.

All Skin Care Reviews

It’s not just the fact that you have a razor cut that won’t stop bleeding; it’s that it always happens right before you have an engagement. I think the poor guys have it worse though, having to shave everyday and still getting the 5 O’clock shadow, something that we girls don’t have to worry about if we use wax removal. The best part about using hot wax hair removal is what happens when the hair grows back; it gets progressively thinner over time. So the more often I wax, the less hair returns which is fine by me; something a shaver cannot promise!

If you are old fashioned and still shave you must notice that the more you shave the quicker the hair returns. There is a little pain with the hot wax hair removal system but nowhere near as much as many people would have you believe. You will understand exactly where I’m coming from if you compare it the Epilady system. This little torture device is straight from the Medieval ages. A long time ago when they first came out I was foolish enough to try one but I threw it away within a few seconds of using it, it just wasn’t worth the pain.

Best of Skin Care Treatments

One of my college friends was born in India and knew about hot wax hair removal so suggested I try it with her the next time she went. It only took the one visit to convince me and I haven’t used any other method since that time. It’s ironic really when you consider what a poor opinion many people have for wax removal systems. When you think about the alternatives, to my mind there is no comparison, it beats them hands down.

Finding Affordable Permanent Hair Removal - The Cost Of Laser Hair Removal Treatments

April 15, 2008 By: PF Category: Hair Removal No Comments →

If you have been considering laser hair removal treatments but the cost is putting you off, maybe it’s time to re-consider. The reality is that laser hair removal costs are far more reasonable than most people think. Because of the high tech nature of the treatments, many people just assume that the price of these permanent hair removal treatments is beyond reach. This is definitely not the case as more and more individuals visit their local laser hair removal clinic to rid themselves of their unwanted hair.

It’s true that the cost of laser hair removal treatments vary a little depending on your location and the actual person performing the treatments. Permanent removal of hair may also require several laser treatments. Results reported by individuals who have undergone treatments have been very positive, with some individuals achieving between 60%-80% hair removal after a maximum of only three treatments.

Laser Hair Removal Clinics

In most major cities, you can expect to pay at least one thousand dollars for treatments of smaller areas, but cost will also be dependent on your personal hair growth characteristics. Prices are often based on the type of laser, the area being treated, and the number of treatments. Larger areas, such as the back, are on average more expensive to treat than smaller areas like the bikini region. Prices can vary widely, so it’s a good idea to shop around.

Although laser hair removal treatments are not cheap, the benefits far outweigh the price in that lasers are quick, mostly painless, and have fewer side effects ( redness or in grown hairs) than other hair removal techniques, such as waxing or creams. However, a benefit that you cannot put a price tag on is the increased confidence and self esteem that you will experience from a permanent hair removal treatment. It’s quite possible that your unwanted hair may be the one thing holding you back from true self-confidence and happiness.

Funding Hair Removal Laser Treatments

A fantastic method to save funds on your laser treatments is to find a clinic offering package deals. They will often charge a discounted fee for a set amount of treatments, pulses, or time. These laser hair removal clinics will generally require you to pay in advance for the treatments though, but the savings can add up fast.

But if funding your laser treatments is an issue for you, you might consider a clinic that has a financing program to aid you with your laser treatment payments. Though the interest may be a little higher, the convenience may be worth the added cost. Another alternative is to get a small loan from your local bank or credit union. The interest rate will generally be lower and the payment terms may be more flexible.

Of all your permanent hair removal choices, permanent hair removal treatments will ultimately save you time and money - consider the ongoing costs and hassle of waxing, shaving or using creams. How quickly the time and costs can add up!

Do You Know The Advantages Of Using Laser Hair Removal Treatments?

April 14, 2008 By: PF Category: Hair Removal No Comments →

Laser hair removal treatments are found to be safe, comfortable, and effective. In fact, experts today consider laser hair removal treatments as the best available system for removing unwanted body and facial hair. The advanced technology of lasers, when used by medical professionals, can result in real permanent hair removal results. The laser hair removal technology is relatively new compared to other methods, but has still been around and effectively employed for removal of unwanted hair for the past decade.

The Preferred Permanent Hair Removal Option

The laser hair removal method is widely used as a permanent hair removal method for certain parts of the body like; the armpits, chin, legs, bikini line area, face, etc. Some believe that laser hair removal treatments are best suited for large areas, such as the back or legs, but the lasting effects of this method have made it the method of choice for even smaller areas, like the upper lip or chin. Laser hair removal is also most effective for small body areas, like the chin, upper lip, or eyebrows. It can be done on the legs, as well, and some men have their backs or necks done, but again it can be a long slow process.

Laser Hair Removal Advantages

Laser hair removal treatments are the only clinically proven method for the permanent removal of unwanted hair on the face and body. The procedure is found to be gentle, quick and effective. And best of all, with long-lasting results. It should be noted that laser hair removal is not an exact science. Each person responds differently to laser treatments. So, what may take one individual only two visits to treat may take another individual three to five visits.

Laser Hair Removal Treatment Information

Laser hair removal is really a straight forward and simple method. A certified technician will prepare the area being treated by coating it with a gel that will numb the affected area. They will then run a specialized laser instrument over the area which will remove the unwanted hair by directing lasers at the follicles to prevent any new growth. In rare cases, there may be minor discomfort associated with the procedure.

The laser hair removal treatment has become a popular option for those looking to remove unwanted facial and body hair. So, why not look into this permanent hair removal option rather than suffering the agonies of waxing or shaving, which only removes unsightly hair temporarily.

Understanding Permanent Hair Removal Options

March 25, 2008 By: PF Category: Hair Removal No Comments →

If you have been looking for the best permanent hair removal option, then laser hair removal treatments may be just right for you. Today’s modern adult is growing tired and frustrated with the daily or weekly ritual of shaving, waxing, or creaming off unwanted hair. To eliminate the need for this time-consuming task, many have turned to the latest technology in permanent hair removal - laser hair removal treatments.

A Permanent Hair Removal Solution

As you may already know, there are very few permanent hair removal options that are truly effective. One being electrolysis and the other laser. Even today, electrolysis is still being used as a real option to removing unwanted hair. This process involves identifying and killing each individual hair by burning its roots. As you can imagine, the removal of hair from a large body area (such as the back), could be a time consuming and expensive proposition.

Besides the fact that the removal of excessive hair on the back can take large amounts of time, electrolysis can also be pretty painful. Not only that, there will be a good number of treatments involved which can become very expensive. Because of these disadvantages, individuals shifted from electrolysis to laser hair removal procedures. The laser proved to be faster, almost totally painless, without side effects (in the majority of cases). The costs, due to the lesser number of treatments, is generally cheaper than electrolysis.

For these reasons, laser hair removal treatments are viewed as the permanent solution to unwanted hair removal. However, before investing your valuable time and hard earned money for laser hair removal treatments, you should perform a little research on the procedure and understand the laser process and the associated cost of laser hair removal treatments.

Advantages of Laser Hair Removal

Considering the benefits of laser over other permanent hair removal methods, laser hair removal is a non-invasive method of photoepilation, which doesn’t involve needles or chemical creams. The advantages of laser hair removal include:

* It is painless as compared to other methods
* The technique is deemed safe by the FDA, when performed by licensed practitioners
* A majority of patients have experienced long-lasting hair removal results
* Laser hair removal treatments are very effective for eliminating hair from large body areas (i.e. back or legs)
* Laser treatments are short in duration, taking only a few minutes for smaller areas

But the primary advantage of a laser hair removal treatment is the speed of the treatment in combination with the long-lasting results. Note that to remove hair from the back with a laser hair removal treatment usually only takes about an hour. In contrast, a full back hair removal treatment with electrolysis can take in excess of 125 hours.

Potential Side Effects of Laser Hair Removal Treatments

Based on the thousands of laser treatments, there are no side effects associated with a laser hair removal treatment. Any kind of serious side effects are extremely rare. Almost all laser hair removal equipment used in the US is certified by the FDA as safe for use in hair removal procedures.

A minor side effect of pigmentary changes of the skin that has been treated can occur, including either dark or light areas. These pigmentary changes may persist for a couple of months, but are almost always temporary in nature. This change is very rare in patients with fair skin, who are untanned. On very rare occasions, blisters and burns can occur in the laser hair removal process, but can occasionally occur in patients with dark, or deeply tanned, skin.

Overall, laser as a permanent hair removal option is a very effective option for anyone looking to remove unwanted hair fast and efficiently. So, why not avoid the agony of repeatedly shaving, creaming, or tweezing and try this permanent solution to your hair removal needs?

Looking For The Best Permanent Hair Removal Option - Try Laser Hair Removal Treatments

March 07, 2008 By: PF Category: Hair Removal No Comments →

If you are trying to determine the safest and best method for permanent hair removal, then why not consider laser hair removal treatments? Today’s modern adult is becoming quite frustrated of the daily or weekly ritual of shaving, waxing, or creaming off unwanted hair. To eliminate the need for this time-consuming task, many people have turned to the latest technology in permanent hair removal - laser hair removal treatments.

The Best Permanent Hair Removal Option

Should you be hesitant to sign up for laser treatments? We don’t think so! The laser hair removal procedure has been approved by the FDA with the recommendation that the procedure only be performed by a licensed and trained professional. During this procedure, a small laser beam is used to destroy the hair follicles. This procedure is relatively painless and works best on people who have light colored skin and dark hair. Costs can run from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand dollars, depending on the size of the area treated.

The Costs Related to Laser Hair Removal Treatments

The costs associated with laser treatments can vary widely from state to state and country to country. Of course, the laser hair removal costs will vary dependent on each person’s type and makeup of hair. Since each individual has a unique pattern for hair growth, the results and the cost of laser hair removal will also be unique.

You will also find that laser hair removal average price structures can vary from clinic to clinic. The following details the typical pricing methods used by laser hair removal clinics to determine the cost of their procedures:

+ Flat or Fixed Fee - There are a few different elections with this pricing method - a per treatment or per package basis. What this means is that a woman’s legs could be quoted at $350 per treatment, regardless of the amount of hair to be removed. An alternative is where a clinic will charge a flat fee for a package of treatments.

+ Fee Per Pulse - To understand this price structure better, you need to understand how the laser equipment works. Each time the laser equipment emits the laser light, it is called a “pulse”. You will find that there are clinics that price based on the number of pulses that it takes to complete the procedure. The fact is that one pulse only takes about a second and will actually remove close to one hundred hairs. If this pricing structure is used, there can also a minimum charge for the treated area. This will result in the cost being the greater of the number of pulses time the price/pulse, or a minimum fee for the specific body area being treated.

+ Treatment Time
The last pricing practice is very similar to that used for the electrolysis process. Laser hair removal clinics using this method usually charge per 15 minute segments of laser treatment.

Nationally, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the average cost of laser hair removal treatments is approximately $430. Now this is an average and does not consider the actual size of the body or face area being treated.

So, if you decide to sign up for laser hair removal treatments, be sure to ask the right questions during your consultation with the hair removal specialist. The questions you ask and resulting answers will lead you to the selction of the best hair removal clinic for your circumstances. So, be thorough in your questioning and don’t consider any topic to be taboo — you have the right to satisfactory answers before entrusting your body to the clinic for laser hair removal treatments.

The Best WAy to Remove Unwanted Underarm Hair

September 27, 2007 By: PF Category: Hair Removal No Comments →

It can be daunting to try to sort through the many products and techniques for underarm hair removal.

You know your armpit hair grows [span]twice as fast as|faster than [/spin] your leg hair in an area which is twice as sensitive. No, it’s not your imagination!

You know you want a product to remove unwanted hair from your armpits. You know your armpit is an awkwardly shaped area and underarm hair is hard to reach and see. You know you don’t want to end up red and raw from razor or chemical burns.

What you don’t know is what a person’s supposed to do to find products and techniques for underarm hair removal?

WE all now need products and techniques for underarm hair removal. There’s got to be a better tool than what you’re using now.

The list of underarm hair removal products and techniques includes electrolysis, lasers, waxing, sugaring, depilatories, wet razors, electric razors, and who knows what else.

Cavemen used two clamshells as a pair of tweezers. What are you going to use?

You do know one thing for sure. You shouldn’t use ANY of these hair removal products and techniques on your tender armpits unless you’re sober and straight. No brainer!

Talk to your friends. They’ll have opinions about their favorite products and techniques for removing underarm hair. But, there’s no way around it. You have to do a little product research.

Let’s take the underarm hair removal products one at a time.

Electrolysis is a technique to get rid of unwanted underarm hairs by inserting a fine needle into each hair follicle. Electrolysis destroys the hair root either by heat or chemical action or both together.

As you can imagine, such a procedure is painful in such a sensitive area, even with a topical anesthetic.

Electrolysis is expensive. This product is most often used for facial hair. Spa rates run $25 to $100 per hour. Although many promises of, “permanent”, underarm hair removal are made, there’s scientific evidence that regrowth sometimes occurs when a new root cell forms in the removal area.

The most expensive product or technique for underarm hair removal is laser with prices ranging from $150 to $500 per treatment.

The laser product doesn’t actually remove the armpit hair, but rather is a technique that appreciably slows down underarm hair growth by using a focused beam of hot light which damages the skin depression from which the hair grows, called the hair follicle.

Laser treatments aren’t quite as painful as electrolysis, but most people still choose a topical anesthetic. Like electrolysis. laser techniques can leave skin damaged, pitted, discolored and raw.

In the United States, it is illegal to claim, “permanent hair removal”, for a laser hair removal product. The best results you can expect from laser underarm hair removal is 30 to 40 percent removal rate for approximately a year.

Waxing and sugaring are similar. They are two techniques of underarm hair removal by basically yanking the hairs out by the roots. A salon will charge you between $25-$45 per hour.

You probably want to get a topical anesthetic here, too, don’t you think?

Depilatories are chemical lotion products for armpit hair removal which dissolve the hair away. In the 1700s North American women used poultices of caustic lye as depilatories for removing unwanted hair.

Today’s chemical are milder and more controlled, but they work in similar ways and sometimes cause chemical skin burns or rashes.

Skin will frequently be splotchy, red, and irritated for hours or days after a depilatory chemical treatment.

Most people use razors when they want a product to remove underarm hair. Some use electric shavers. Some use wet razors.

One technique for underarm hair removal that will help in either electric shaver or wet razor underarm shaving is to take a hot shower before shaving to open up the hair follicles and make the underarm hair softer.

Always use a brand new, sharp blade.

Another technique you will find useful is to wait at least a half hour after you wake up before shaving, because sleep makes your skin puffy so it’s harder for the shaver to reach and cut the hair.

There’s no way around it. You have to do some research if you want to find what you’re going to use for underarm hair removal.

While you’re waiting that half hour for the puffiness to recede, hop on over to your computer keyboard and do some research and find out about newer, safer shaving tools to help you avoid the burns, rashes, irritated skin, bumps, and scrapes you’re getting now.

Removing Pubic Hair the Easy Way

July 20, 2007 By: PF Category: Hair Removal No Comments →

Anyone wanting to remove pubic hair will probably focus primarily on the two most common methods of hair removal: waxing and shaving. Pubic hair includes hair growing in the genital area and on the genitals themselves.

Not everyone removes pubic hair, but the practice dates back to earliest man and woman. Art work shows ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans with hairless pubic areas. Archaeologists have found sharpened copper and brass artifacts which they have identified as shaving implements.

Any pubic hair removal guide will include information on laser hair removal and electrolysis.

When laser or electrolysis ads talk about pubic hair removalthey generally are talking about the pubic, “bush”, area. A guide for hair removal with these machines says they can have problems with the bikini line area and are not appropriate for hair removal from the genitals themselves.

In either case, you are looking at spending some serious money.

Laser hair removal sessions last 15-30 minutes in length. Complete removal requires 4-8 sessions. Cost in the $500/session range is common.

Electrolysis can be even more expensive, but offers more permanent hair removal, rather than, “permanent hair reduction”, as cited by the laser industry.

If you have dark or olive skin or light hair color, laser treatments will me less effective for you. The requirement is the hair must be noticeably darker than the surrounding skin.

If you choose waxing as your pubic hair removal technique, here’s a guide to some of the important considerations:

If you are concerned with the inevitable pain associated with ripping hair out by the roots, try getting an anesthetic cream or ointment from your pharmacist. Apply the anesthetic lotion at least 30 to 60 minutes before you plan to wax.

Be sure your hair is at least 1/4 to 1/2 inch long so the wax can grab it. Also, do not take a shower or moisten the pubic hair immediately before waxing since this will soften the hair. Wax adheres better to tough, dry hair. Some time before waxing, wash the area thoroughly and dry it completely to remove any lotions or oils which would prevent the wax from sticking to the pubic hair.
